It matters that thousands of people died unnecessarily in New Orleans...
It matters that the President did not care enough about those people to cut his 5-week vacation short, until after everyone started criticising him...
It matters that Hurricane Rita is the second Category 5 Hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico, in the last 4 weeks...
It matters enough that nature is still stronger than us human beings...
But I don't care. It has been 4 years since I had meaningful employment. It has been 5 years since I thought that my earning potential could only go up and I could afford the American Dream, my own house. It has been that long, since I thought that if my work performance continued to be as high, I would soon be promoted.
Where do I stand now? I have a part time job and I am collecting unemployment--for the fourth year in a row. I have no medical insurance. And I am depressed.
And the fat cows in Washington are worried about their little pork belly highway programs. Hypocrites...
I don't know how many people are in my position, but I do know that the future is "not what it used to be."
